There are many movies and television shows that depict the Royal Family, and fans have another one to be excited about. According to Deadline, Kristen will play the "People's Princess" in the forthcoming film Spencer.
It will be directed by Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín, whose previous credits include Jackie (2016), featuring Natalie Portmanas Jackie Kennedy Onassis, and Ema (2019).
Spencer will reportedly focus on the breakdown of Diana's marriage to Prince Charles. It will centre on a three-day period in the early '90s during one of the princess's final Christmas holidays at Sandringham. The movie will also highlight the love she had for her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
"It's about finding herself, about understanding that possibly the most important thing for her is to be well, and to be with herself and by herself," Pablo explained of the highly-anticipated film.
"That's why the movie is called Spencer, which is the family name she had before she met Charles," he continued.
English screenwriter Steven Knight, whose credits include Eastern Promises, Peaky Blinders and Taboo, is penning the script.
With the film industry slowly reopening as coronavirus pandemic lockdown measures are lifted, Spencer is expected to begin production in early 2021.
Kristen has a variety of credits to her name and is an accomplished actress at 30 years old. She first gained attention in 2002 for her role as the daughter of Jodie Foster's character in the thriller Panic Room. She went on to find worldwide fame with the Twilight Saga franchise and has since balanced blockbuster films with captivating indie performances. We cannot wait to see what Kristen will bring to the role!
Royals fans will also get to see Diana depicted in season four of Netflix's The Crown. It will feature Emma Corrin as the late Princess of Wales, with many of the season three cast returning, including Olivia Colman as the Queen, Tobias Menzies playing Prince Philip, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles and Emerald Fennell portraying Camilla Parker Bowles.
