Princess Charlotte looked thrilled and excited to be starting the next step on her educational journey as she arrived for her first day of school on Sept. 5.
The four-year-old couldn’t hide her happiness as she was joined by big brother Prince George and mom and dad Duchess Kate and Prince William for her start at Thomas’s Battersea. George has been a student there since 2017. Charlotte was decked out in the school’s uniform, wearing a skirt, red and blue cardigan and blouse underneath and dress shoes as she held her mom’s hand.

Helen Haslem, head of the lower school, greeted the family of four as William and Kate dropped Charlotte and George off for their big day. Helen bent down to shake Charlotte’s hand, and Charlotte looked like she was thrilled and so ready to be starting school!
Kate had a huge smile on her face as her little girl was introduced to Helen and looked incredibly proud of her two children. The duchess was not able to drop George off for his first day at Thomas’s Battersea in 2017 because she was suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness, while she was pregnant with Prince Louis.
Bubbly and gregarious Charlotte will be known as Charlotte Cambridge to her classmates and teachers at the school, where her brother goes by George Cambridge.
Charlotte looks set for a fun first year of learning at Thomas’s Battersea. She’ll be taught French, computing, art, music, drama and ballet, and will also join her classmates on a “woodland adventure” that includes building a den, hunting for bugs and making crafts. She’ll no doubt be thrilled to take part and has got good practice in this year, since Kate’s Back to Nature Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show featured a den as part of its homage to the great outdoors!
Have a great first day at school, Charlotte! We’re all very proud of you!
