As editors at Hello!, Gstaad - that stunning, star-studded ski town in Switzerland - has a high-ranking spot on our list of places-we-are-desperate-to-visit. Not only is it the skiing local for notable stars like Madonna, Olivia Palermo and Carey Mulligan, but several royals (including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge) also frequent the picturesque peaks and quaint town for their ski holidays.
We envision our (fantasy) trip to Gstaad resembling something like this: We take our private helicopter to the ski village and spend the afternoon feasting on a charcuterie plate while sipping vin chaud around a roaring fire.
The only thing missing? A super covetable yet wearable chalet-meets-slope wardrobe.
Enter last night’s Mackage presentation at WMCFW. The Montreal-based brand drew inspiration from the Arctic landscape and presented a spectrum of outerwear including parkas, wool coats, capes and maxi-length jackets fit for a mini-holiday in Gstaad. Thin down coats and high-waist ski pants (complete with suspenders!) add an athletic touch while the soft – and undeniably luxe – palette of glacier blue-grey, off white and slate perfectly married functionality with fashion. Hits of Bordeaux, marsala and amber punctuated the collection while avant-garde details like leather-trimmed fringe, wide waist belts and ample fur trim added a fashion-forward element.
Excuse us while we spend the rest of the afternoon daydreaming (and pre-ordering as many fringe-trimmed scarves as our credit cards will allow).
