Is there room for a braided faux mohawk on the Oscars red carpet?

Since Tibi is one of my favourite contemporary labels, I was a little concerned that at New York Fashion Week I wouldn't pay as much attention to the hair as I would to the clothes.

I needn't have worried - the braided faux mohawks worn parted in the centre and with soft, loose waves that the Aveda team created were too cool to miss.

But was it too cool for a Hollywood red carpet as glam as the Oscar Awards?

My first thought was that only a star as edgy as Rooney Mara would be able to pull this one on off. But then I remembered Jennifer Lawrence.

Sure, the American Hustle star - who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress at this year's Academy Awards - had chopped off her long locks in favour of an impossibly chic pixie cut, but she has enough front bang and hair on top to pull off the centre braid (minus the waves, of course!).

And since you just know that Miss Lawrence will be stepping out of her limo on Sunday night in Dior, I couldn't imagine a more fashion-forward 'do to go with the star's sure-to-be-trend-setting gown. After all, she has been doing such a great job showing women how many different ways there are to style a short hair cut, I think this one should definitely be on her rotation.
