Fist pumping, robot dance moves and hip-popping poses — no, it wasn’t a dance party in the entertainment district, it was last night’s Target catwalk at World MasterCard Fashion Week.
For those of us lucky enough to have seen a Target show before, the theatrical display was not surprising. (Remember last year when supermodel Erin Wasson led the genetically blessed slew of models in a rendition of Mariah Carey’s "All I Want For Christmas Is You"?!)
Showmanship is a fashion staple at Target, and last night did not disappoint.
For starters, the musical mash-up between an accordion player and rock violinist (!) set the stage for the upbeat, street-style-worthy collection. Models smiled at the crowd as they took to the runway in a bevy of quilted jackets, cozy anoraks, fur-trimmed separates and slouchy leather pants. European-inspired knit beanies and embellished sweaters rounded out the festive collection.
For the grand finale (which nearly made me fall off my bright red chair in shocked-delight), confetti canons blasted gold glitter into the air and the 42-model ensemble, lead by the brand’s mascot, Bullseye the dog, flooded the runway.
Not only do I have a new appreciation for electric violin, I’ve come up with the winning fashion formula: canine + confetti. Oh, and wicked clothes.
